How much does translation cost?
The cost of the translation will depend on the size of the document to be translated, what it's about, how quickly it needs to be done and whether or not it needs to be certified. Please visit our Guide to pricing for some guideline prices for certain types of document.
Do you use computers to translate for you?
Certainly not! But we do use them to help us. All of our translations are carried out carefully and expertly by qualified and experienced translators. Translators have access to a wide variety of software to help them translate, including electronic dictionaries and glossaries, translation tools and quality assurance applications. We never run our translations through tools like Google Translate.
What is a certified translation?
Certified translations are typically required when legal or official documents are involved, such as when making an application for a passport or visa or when getting married. In the UK, a certified translation is a translation accompanied by a declaration signed by the translator stating that the translation is a 'true and accurate translation of the original'. The declaration should also include the translator's qualifications and any memberships of professional bodies, and may be signed in front of a solicitor if required. Translators registered in the UK with the Institute of Translation and Interpreting can apply a seal to the translation to indicate their membership and to complement the declaration.
